Rave Revue

Some recent finds include this gem, "Rave Revues", an awesome goth band from Toronto, of which I can find 0 info. An eerie classic goth sound like candle light and blood red lipstick! Released on Lunar Grooves records 1984.

And this 12" by Scott Matthews... also completely under the radar, a Canadian synth pop release on Just Defied Records 1983.

I will be playing alot of this kind of music July 16th, and other classic synth pop and dance selections to cure the Monday blues. Here is a link to a Bourbonese Qualk track from their first LP on Recloose Organization Records 1984. Recently purchased from Rotate This, here in Toronto. Rotate continues to be one of the best record shops in town, with unexpected finds almost everytime I go. All priced lower than most other places. Ever since vinyl made a comeback, they have en massed one of the best consistant selections of alternative records in Toronto. Where else will you find Richard H Kirk in the dollar bin? And this an original copy of "Laughing Afternoon" for $10!!

Found this Dan Morehouse record today, minimal synthesizer drones for 20 minutes per side! Tracks are Curve of life & Halcyon. I had no idea what this was when I paid $3 for it... turns out to be quite rare and there is only one for sale on the net. How exciting! Soon I will learn how to include sound bites on this blog so I can share this stuff. I couldn't find any info on this record or artist anywhere. It is from 1978 and performed on an Arp 2600 + other synths and tapes. On SPACEOLA records. The music on this record is based on the Fibonacci sequence, so it spirals out and sounds amazing.

While I am at it I will also include another synth record that found it's way into my permanent collection, another very rare album... Electronic Hymns by Chuck Clements. It is just that, religious songs performed on synth. Also very drone like and minimal. Church in space. Instrumental throughout. Again, next to no info on this guy, there is one cassette version floating around on ebay, and one LP for 93(!)dollars on Airpower. The version of amazing grace is pure cosmic bliss. HORIZON records 1977.

Here is another gem from Quebec... "madame Minou" tells us about our horoscopes in french to a swirling electronic sounscape by Ian Cooney, hypnotic and cosmic. SAISONS records Canada.There is no year printed on it, looks like late 70's early 80's. Here is a link to Minou giving predictions, did it come true?

INKSCAPE

A series of small ink paintings from 2009, intended as sketches for later works. I created so many small sketches and inks in the past 5 years, all to be later developed into paintings or stories. A lot of these have already been recreated into new works or lead to new visions. A lot of them are yet to be made. I would like to post some new comics but I am waiting until August for that... Zine Dream is coming up and it's always a good excuse to sum up a new collection of drawings. Contact me for more info or to arrange a studio visit.

CORPUSSE in the HAMMER

Here is a new CORPUSSE video recorded in Hamilton at This Ain't Hollywood last month. We have been very busy wrapping up our 4th full length album together... that doesn't include all the other side projects and singles that have been released over the last decade & a half, Like PILLS, SKULL HARVEST & FAN FAVORITE... The new album will be released this summer.

GALAXY FLASH

Recently attended the Toronto Mid-Town Record Show at Mount Pleasant & Davisville here in Toronto, and though I opted out of the early bird shopping frenzy I came out with some great new finds. Among some of those are Hugh LeCaine's "Compositions & Demonstrations 1948 - 1972.

This image was borrowed from the net... my scanner is down! This is an album of recordings by a Canadian pioneer of electronic music, and I can't listen to it right now either because it is still sealed! So check out the first synth ever I'll have to open it sooner or later.

I also picked up Action & Suspense form the Spectrum Mood Library series, #4. It is a little beat up, but it's better than not having it at all! Here is a link to an awesome track that is not on this record but gives you an idea what I am hearing right now...

Some more great stuff includes Jean Billboard's Galaxy Flash, a Yamaha electone synthesizer demonstration record that is like the Magic Organ in space... And is apparently played by Edgar Schlepper who is also Ed Vanguard who played in Warning, an amazing dark electro band from 1982 here is a link to WARNING
